Everyday for the lasts nine days I have thought it was Monday and today was no exception.
Whoops, it's actually Thursday! And, that means it's time to Capture the Everyday with Melissa over at Adventuroo.
Better late than never, no?
Today the prompt was "something you need to upgrade". And, um....yeah...that's me. I need an upgrade, I've lost a bit of me since I became a wife and a mother and it's time I put a little love and attention back into me.
I'm really stoked that I'll have a couple of days just to myself before the Type-A Parent conference in June as my boys head out of state to a car show. A couple of days to just be me.
Coming soon, Me 2.0.

Newspaper
I should have know that my morning wasn't going to be the "pulled together" act I had mentioned yesterday when I walked outside to see our newspaper sitting on the roof of my car.
I was rockin' it out to the "Chicago" soundtrack (hard core, I know) and perhaps accelerating while I belted out the lyrics. I wasn't totally aware of my speed until after I saw the flash of a speed camera. All, I can hope for at this point is that someone was going faster than me. Personally I think a speed camera mounted to an off-duty State vehicle shouldn't really count. If they can't even wrangle a real speed camera, shouldn't I get a pass??
After, I arrived in DC for the workshop I was attending I thought I'd check things over before I went in. Checked my planner for the room location and then realized with a sinking sensation in my stomach that the documents I was supposed to bring along with my laptop were more than an hour away, at home, chilling on my couch with a few of their closest friends.(sigh) I spent 4 hours over the course of the day yesterday compiling things and 2 of those hours were non-stop sorting and bunching things in the appropriate piles.
It turns out, that we didn't really need them to much for the workshop I was attending. Whew. It just leaves me more work this week to do in and around my regular stuff.
And, now it's sunny and fairly warm considering our weather as of late. So, I'm stoked that things are turning around.

Technological Panic Attack
I was pretty proud of myself for flopping out of bed before the alarm even went off. To be honest, I really hadn't even set the alarm--I was using Liam for that. I showered, dressed for work, and thought I'd hit up Panera to pick up both breakfast and lunch since my job today doesn't afford a lunch break today. I made it Panera, was feeling groovy about how pulled together I was today--and then about 25 minutes into my day I realized that I had never unplugged my phone from the wall and placed it in my work bag. Arghhhh!
I contemplated spending an entire day without it and decided that was crazy talk. So, I took a 45 minute detour, went back thru the tolls that I had already paid for, paid again and zoomed home at a leisurely 80mph. (I know, such a law breaker.) Popped into the house, snagged my cellular security blanket and went on my merry way. Still managed to make it here on time...whew! I'm $6 bucks poorer in tolls, but I have a little something to keep me busy and connected to the world.
Perhaps I need an intervention. Because, this post looks a whole lot like a serious phone addiction.
I think I'll try the completely pulled together look tomorrow when I head down out of town for a workshop. Who knows, it might even look good on me.

Think Before You Speak
Our little guy has been ill. Crazy ill. He had this tiny cough which grew up into a big bad cough and wheezy chest, runny nose, etc. The poor kid is so uncomfortable that he doesn't know which way is up. That coupled with the fact that after the first night back in my own bed, I did something awful to my shoulder and neck. It may have had something to do with the fact that on Sunday during our flight back the person in front of us had their seat all the way reclined on the airplane. So, I was tightly holding onto the little guy for the whole duration. Maybe it stressed things out. I'm on two pain killers that aren't even beginning to take the edge off of the stabbing pain. (sigh)
All that to say that I didn't go to work last night and the hubs and I actually had an evening together. We watched a little American Idol. He played around on his favorite car forum and then we were chillin' watching who knows what when an ad for the new movie "Clash of the Titans" comes on. Well, all I saw was what looked like people dressed from way back and some sandy type of environment when the hubs said, "I can't believe they are remaking that.". And, I said, " What, the Ten Commandments?" It was literally a split second after it came out of my mouth that I saw a dinosaur tail go "thwack" "thwack" "thwack" before it's head reared into view and growled at us. Ummm, oops...I guess I'll pay a bit more attention to the commercials before I comment from now on.
It did provide us with some serious belly laughter the rest of the evening though.
