What I'm Thankful For...

There are many things I am grateful for... the standard thankful list of supportive husband, funny kids, strong friends, roof over head, good health, etc of course. But one thing I find myself thanking God for every day (before my daily prayer for strength!) are the mistakes & challenges I have not only survived, but learned from.

I truly believe that we are not given more than we can handle. But, we also have to be grateful for everything we currently have in our life before we can be blessed with more. Many times, bad situations are simply lessons in disguise. If I didn't have such a terrible 2nd pregnancy, maybe I wouldn't have reached out to my [then new] neighbors who wanted to help me, creating friendships that have grown since. Learning how to ask for help was a huge challenge for me, and now I know that it's ok to ask for help. Simply learning from the mistakes I made nursing my first born for 2 months helped me to nurse my 2nd born for well over a year & a half!

So today, think about where you are, and how you got there. Did you reach this point in your life because great ideas, things, people, etc fell into your lap, or were handed to you on a platter? Probably not. You earned this spot in your life. Thanks mistakes. Thanks challenges. You have made me the strong person I am today, and for that, I am truly & deeply grateful.

  1. So true Kelli! It is hard to say bring it on with trials, but it is nice to see the sun shining through the clouds! I know that many women posting today have had this realization and it is nice to be affirmed!

  2. Great questions to reflect upon. I am so very grateful for all the times you have e-mailed such thoughtful responses to all my parental quandaries. Thanks.
