Up Close & Personal With Bugs {Review/Giveaway}

If it were left to my husband, a former Eagle Scout, we would go camping in a zillion and a half feet of snow for our vacation every year. We'd stand around the makeshift campfire with industrial grade thermal wear and toast some sort of extra crunchy fibrous meal before we tuckered out in our snow cave.

If it were up to my son, we'd collect snakes and bugs and invite each of them into our house to make as many babies as possible. We'd tell them how nice, cute, fun they are and live happily every after.

These scenarios are NEVER going to happen.

Mamma has to lay down the law somewhere.

Now, I don't mind run of the mill camping or examining the finer points of non-poisonous bugs...like ants, flies or moths.

Thanks to Backyard Safari we can have a little adventure, while mamma retains her sanity. And, if the boys want to go off and pretend to be pioneers they can bring along these super durable products too.

The two products we tried out were the Campfire Glow Lantern and the Lazer Bug Vac.

They arrived while I was out of town at BlogHer and all I heard from Liam for a week was the whir of the motor from the bug vac.

For a week every time I called it was...

...whirrrrrrr...
Do you want to talk to mamma?
 ...whirrrrr...
NO!

BUGS!
...whirrrrrrrrrrrrr.

He had a serious crush on this bug vac and it's easy to see why. It comes with its own bright red laser light, a practice bug (butterfly) and two interchangeable "capture" tubes complete with magnifying lens to see your bugs up close and personal. Loads of fun!

The lantern has been a big hit as well. He loves to use it just about everywhere from outside on the deck to homemade forts. We can't wait to take it camping at our nature center the first weekend in October. It has a very bright LED lantern light up top and a much softer "campfire glow" that you can toggle to on the bottom. Just right for those that are a bit scared of the dark. It lights up the tent without disturbing your nearby campers...or at least we hope so.

I can't say enough great things about these products or this great company. My little guy plays with  both products multiple times EVERY day.

You can enter below to win BOTH the Lazer Bug Vac and the Campfire Glow Lantern.
