Hello 1984

"A song that you know all the words to."

Oh yes baby! Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita. Come on, this is as good as it gets, and look at the hair on Peter Cetera in that video! Hello '80s.

I loved The Karate Kid series, and had my first celebrity crush on little Mr. Wax-on Wax-Off. I had this song on cassette and listened to it over and over again, and kids that meant I had to do this thing called "rewinding", no Track 6 on repeat here.

I very clearly remember going to a wedding a few years after this song had been out and being beyond upset that I could not go out and dance to it since it was for the bride and groom only. My mom told me that one day maybe I could play it at my own wedding, and don't think I didn't still remember. It crossed my mind many-a-times. Maybe if we renew our vows someday we'll rock out old school to "Glory of Love".

  2. LOVE this song. My longtime friend used it as her first dance at her wedding reception in part because it felt right when marrying a man with the last name Knight.

Thanks for making me smile on a dreary, I'm sick, day.

  3. YAY! The Karate Kid rocks my socks. The hubs & I watched it for the first time in years just last month to see if we could share it with Natalie. Little too violent, but it won't be long. If anything, it was fun to just watch it again. There were cheesy moments for sure, but we sat and watched the whole thing without moving or pressing pause once... and absolutely belted out the Glory of Love.

  4. OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE THIS SONG! Sorry for shouting, but I got so excited when I saw this was your song today. :) When Karate Kid II came out, I actually bought the Peter Cetera tape that this song was on and memorized the whole album — I loved it that much.

And yes, that is some seriously spectacular hair. :) LOVE IT!

  5. @ KC: I'll be your biggest karaoke fan or maybe we could just go rollerskating together. I think it'd be a nice Easter tradition.

  7. @ Kelli: We mistakenly tried to watch the new one with Liam. He was all kinds of upset about the fights. Lesson learned.

  8. @ Vanessa: Me too. I think this was on the "Solitude/Solitaire" album. I went straight from Peter Cetera to New Kids on the Block...ugh.
