Capture the Everyday: Cars

Capture the Everyday: Cars

With a freelance automotive journalist for a dad, this is just a tiny sampling of the "cars" that are slowly taking over our home, vehicles...life.

And, don't confuse a VW with a BMW or a Lamborghini with a Porshe. Little Dude knows the difference and will politely correct you.

He also insists on you telling him the make and model of nearly every car that we walk/drive past.

It's all well and good until you step on one of these bad boys. It'll bring a grown woman to her knees.

Capture the Everyday is about getting you to capture those everyday moments in your life! Each Thursday, I’ll issue a simple challenge to capture something that’s a part of your daily life. You can post just a picture or add some words to go along with it. You’ll have a week to get it done and then I’ll issue another. It’s a quick, easy way to start capturing those little parts of life we sometimes take for granted.

10 Vehicle Colors for New Parents

Car companies are doing some pretty crazy things in this economy to attract new buyers.

So, I thought I'd do my part to help try and spur the economy on while simulataneosly offering some free color advice to car companies.

They already have some whack-a-doodle colors like Corn Silk Beige (VW), Anaconda Green (Dodge), Hot Chocolate (Mini), Grigio Nuvolari (Maserati), Ipanema Sand (Land Rover), and the unforgettable Mango Tango Pearl (Jeep).

Here's are 10 family-friendly colors I propose for 2011 and beyond. Take note, Ford & GM.

10 Vehicle Colors for New Parents

  • Fruit Snack (Sweet Red)
  • Week Old Milk (Chunky White)
  • Pampers (Mellow Yellow)
  • Goldfish (Cheese Orange)
  • Sleepless (Blurred Gray)
  • Stack o' Laundry (Multi-colored Mash-up)
  • Melted Kiss (Chocolate Brown)
  • Sippy-a-licious (Juice Purple)
  • 2am Feeding (Pitch Black)
  • Boogie Woogie (Snot Green)

Why the BEEP?

Little Dude is very interested in all things that cause a horn to beep?

He is also very aware of sharing.

And over the course of the last few weeks we have had more than a few occasions to talk about why mamma won't share.

Twice in the last week or so someone has come over into our lane of traffic and I have honked at them.

Little Dude always responds with, "What they do? Why you honk at them?"

To which I reply that they were trying to come into our lane and so I honked to let them know that we are already there.

And, this is where he gives me a talking too.

"Mamma they can come in our lane. We can share. Big purple truck can be our friend. It's-a good to share."

The rest of the story...

Last night I posted "Roses & Lilies" hoping for more than one response and one e-mail, but c'est la vie internet.

Here's the deal.

Guesses:

Birthday & Anniversary? No.

2nd Baby: Nooooo.

My husband has a serious car affliction. He loves cars so much that we have to park ours 6 miles from the entrances to restaurants and shopping malls 'lest anyone breathe on it the wrong way. Love you, honey!

Tim has asked me to take off a weekend from work this Spring so that he could attend a car show and then a few weeks ago he saw me writing in work for the following weekend and he gave me a "look". A "Please don't work that day, I kinda already made plans." look. As luck would have it there was a car show that weekend that he'd like to go to even more so than the one the weekend before and couldn't I please bail on the work. He even asked about it again last Saturday.

That same Saturday my colleage was trying to figure out a way to find a sub on the "first" car show weekend. Soooo, to make everyone's weekends I agreed to work her shift on the weekend I had taken off if she could work the next alone with an intern. And, voila both parties are happy.

Tim and his car dudes are so happy that Tim bought me the roses and his car dudes bought me the irises.

I kid you not.

Flowers from men I have never met.

Heh.
